Gleneagles Golf Day 2017

Monday 4th September saw Impulse Decisions host its 5th annual golf day at the spectacular Gleneagles Resort in Scotland. 20 teams of 4 were treated to a full day of entertainment which started at 10am in the Dormy Clubhouse, where each team were given a full briefing for the day’s activities, an array of golfing gifts and a hearty full Scottish breakfast.

At 11 o’clock our guests were led to their golf buggies and in convoy they were escorted over the road to the top of the driving range where they were treated to a performance by the number 1 trick shot maestro David Edwards.

After David’s trick shot masterclass, the golfers had time to hit a few balls on the range in preparation for playing the PGA Centenary Course, the host course of the 2014 Ryder Cup and the 2019 Solheim Cup.

Guests were ushered to their starting holes ready for a 12.30 shotgun start. The golf course was in top class condition and playing very tough after some heavy rain in the early parts of the round. David Edwards situated himself on the first tee and challenged our guests to hit one of his famous trick shots down the first fairway whilst also handing out a well-deserved beer.

Our in-house PGA golf professional Tom was also challenging our guests to “beat the pro” on the par 3, 10th hole and all entries were rewarded with a refreshing gin and tonic. The other on-course challenges included longest drive, nearest the pin and both a team and individual stableford competition.

Following the golf, our guests checked into their rooms at the stunning Gleneagles Hotel, which hosts many prestigious events including the G8 Summit. Following check in, our guests had time for a shower and a change into evening wear for the luxurious gala dinner which was held in the spectacular Gleneagles Ballroom.

A traditional Scottish bag piper welcomed our guests to a champagne reception and exquisite dining. Throughout the dinner the guests had the opportunity to bid on some exclusive experiences and memorabilia in the silent auction, which was raising money for The Rainbow Trust charity.

Entertainment was from the cricket legend Geoff Miller who told stories of his career as an international cricketer and Chairman of Selectors. Following Geoff on stage was a stunning performance by Belle Voci, a beautiful operatic duo who performed classic and musical-theatre pieces, who left the stage to a standing ovation. The prize winners from the golf were then announced before our guests made their way through to the hotel bar for a few more drinks to round off the day.

All in all, a fantastic experience for our guests at one of the best golf resorts anywhere in the world. This year raised the bar for our golf day which we will be going all out to better in 2018. If you would like to join us at Gleneagles on 10th September 2018 or on any of our other world class experiences, we would be delighted to hear from you.
